The aim of the course is to equip students with knowledge about all sorts of social studies, which become the basis for the diagnosis of phenomena and processes taking place in contemporary Europe. Students will be introduced to the rules of conducting, analysis and interpretation of the international and foreign sociological, demographic, statistical, etc. data, in particular the data from the international comparative studies will be taken into account. Based on examples of such studies, the student will be able to get acquainted with the latest methods of data analysis and the latest statistical programs for comparative analyses. The intention of the lecturer is to familiarize students with the capability of determining the trends and tendencies of social development on the basis of compilation data from empirical research, European opinion polls, statistical data, demographic data and the European official data.

Written work on a selected topic related to current social problems that appear Compliance with the topic, correct structure of work, language, reliability, independence of preparing work, proper selection of literature. The correct presentation, ability to answer questions about the presented material. The work shall consist of 3 parts, which verify: - ability to indicate the specifics of international comparative studies in the context of taken issues, gathering and sharing data policy; -ability to demonstrate how to search for, collect and adapt the data for own analysis and critical view on the usefulness of the data for the analysis of the research problem; -appropriateness of the adopted methods of presentation and analysis of data to comply with the problem, completeness |

The grade from the exercises is the arithmetic average of the grades from the three parts of the semester paper. |
