Aim of the course

Education of giving first aid to victims of accidents, principles for assessment of life-threatening conditions. Attitudes of respect and sensitivity to human life.

Prerequisites

Anatomy and physiology.

Scope

Lecture

Legal aspects of first aid. First aid basic principles and stages (European Resuscitation Council – ERC 2015).  Assessment of life-threatening conditions- the cardiovascular system, respiratory system, nervous system. First aid Kit. Basic life support (BLS) – Guidelines on Resuscitation 2015.

Class

Assessment of life-threatening conditions-the cardiovascular system, respirator, nervous – first aid procedures. Assessment of the casualty’s conditions. Life functions control. Getting help. Basic life support (BLS) for baby, kids and adults person – procedure. Sudden situations: fainting, convulsions, heart attack, choking etc. Serious wounds and bleeding treatment. Injuries and concussions – broken bones, sprains and dislocations of the ankles. Burns treatment.

Teaching methods

Lecture with a multimedia presentation, measurement, analytical method, the group project, group work.
