The aim of the course is to acquire basic knowledge of statistical methods and the ability to use them in scientific research covering typical problems in the field of production engineering.
Basic knowledge and skills in mathematics.
Lecture:
W1. Populations and samples of one variable. Basic parameters: arithmetic mean, modal, geometric and harmonic mean, median, variance, standard deviation, coefficient of variation.
W2. One-dimensional random variables and their distributions. Step and continuous distributions. Distribution density and distribution functions. Discussion of the binary, binomial, Poisson and normal distributions.
W3. Sample distributions. Parameter evaluations. Using tables of distributions.
W4. Reading from distribution tables and creating distribution tables using selected computer applications.
W5. Populations and samples of two variables. Covariance and correlation. Linear regression study.
W6. Statistical inference based on significance tests.
W7. Statistical inference based on confidence intervals.
Project:
P1-P2. Statistical analysis in the form of calculation of basic statistical parameters such as: arithmetic mean, modal, geometric and harmonic mean, median, variance, standard deviation, coefficient of variation.
P3-P4. Performing selected random experiments and analyzing the parameters of step distributions. Comparison of the obtained results with theoretical values.
P5-P6. Performing statistical analysis on the basis of given experimental examples of normal distribution and comparing the obtained results with theoretical values.
P7-P8. Creating distribution tables using selected computer applications.
P9-P10. Calculation of the correlation coefficient for any selected measurement results. Making graphs of dependencies of two variables.
P11-P13. Performing statistical inference based on significance tests.
P14-P15. Performing statistical inference based on confidence intervals.
Conventional lecture.
Project: project implementation, exercises, experiments, practical tasks, problem discussion.
