Laboratory 30 2 - - Credit with grade

Aim of the course

Preparing students to apply basic procedures for analysis of the survey data and their practical use: calculation, analysis and interpretation of the results of empirical research. Acquiring skills of using an IBM SPSS Statistics.

Prerequisites

-

Scope

1. Preparation of quantitative research: construction of a measurement tool (questionnaire).

2. Preparation of survey data for analysis: Creating databases. Data entry and control.

3. Basic analysis of collected data: preliminary analysis of distributions - calculation of frequency, measures of central tendency and measures of dispersion, definition of multiple response sets, frequency calculation based on sets of multiple responses. Data conversion: recoding of variable values, counting occurrences of values, calculation of new values, conditional transformations.

4. Testing dependencies between variables: construction of cross tables, measure of significance of the compound, Chi-square, Student's t test in independent samples and in dependent tests.

5. Cross tables based on sets of multiple statements. Correlation of variables.

6. Work on your own research project: analysis of the results - preparation of the report.

FORM OF ASSESSMENT OF CLASSES

REMARKS

Grade

Yes

Written mid-term exam.

The grade consists of the average of grades obtained from three tests including: (1) creating a questionnaire

in Word, creating a template for creating a database in Excel, creating a database in IBM Statistics SPSS, (2) frequency analysis of variables, procedure for recoding variables, variable covariability analysis (cross tables and chi-square test), (3) creating multiple response sets and their analysis; testing statistical hypotheses (t-Student) and exercises provided for in the program.

The scope of the material covering the mid-term exam

According to Syllabus, presented at the first class.

Criteria for grade assessment
 for classes.

Classes grade will be the arithmetic mean of all three mid-term exams.

The final grade is the grade of the classes
