Cel przedmiotu

To prepare students for the analysis of certain aspects of the functioning of local communities, identification and indication of the areas for intervention. Preparation of the research project, in order to improve knowledge about a selected aspect of the functioning of local communities. An additional aim is to prepare students to plan activities to improve the situation on the basis of the collected existing data and induced data (preparation of recommendations).

Zakres tematyczny

  1. Analysis of the functioning of selected territorial units, identification of the areas for intervention.
  2. Preparing a presentation showing the main issues of the selected areas.
  3. Choice and justification of the importance of the selected area for the functioning of the local community.
  4. Preparation of assumptions to the research with the aim of deepening of the previously selected issues, along with
    the reasons for the choice of the specific methods and research techniques.
  5. Presentation of the research project (problems, hypotheses, variables, indicators, population, sampling, methods
    and techniques, research tools).
  6. Proposal of measures to improve the earlier diagnosed situation.
  7. Practical functions of social research, examples of research projects.
  8. Available sources of existing data, enabling analysis of the problem.
  9. Preparation of a presentation presenting the most important problems of selected areas (selection and justification of the importance of the selected area for the functioning of the local community).
  10. Preparation of a research project (problems, hypotheses, variables, indicators, population, sampling, methods and techniques, research tools).

Preparation of a project
 in writing
 and presentation in the classroom.

Research project-(1) diagnosis concerning various aspects of the functioning of local communities (students should use multiple sources, they should present analysis, which is an indication of the areas for intervention). Preparation of the research project (2) designed to provide in-depth knowledge of the selected area that requires intervention.

Compliance with the topic, correct structure of work, language, reliability, independence of preparing work, proper selection of literature.

The correct presentation, ability to answer questions about the presented material.

Criteria for grade assessment of classes

Classes grade will be the arithmetic mean of both projects.
