Cel przedmiotu

The aim of the lectures is to introduce the student to the world of applied anthropology. Lectures form the conceptual and theoretical basis for practical exercises.

Zakres tematyczny

Lectures:

    The place of applied anthropology in anthropological sciences. Possibilities of using knowledge and methods of cultural anthropology in various areas of social life.
    Thinking like an anthropologist - an anthropological imagination, meeting with "the Othe"r, borderland situation - and what does it result from?
    Ethnographic research as one of the forms of practicing anthropology.
    Culture-heritage-tradition and the identity of modern man, the problem of tradition in the old and contemporary society.
    Production, transmission and disappearance of cultures. The structure of long duration.
    Lubuskie region - analysis of the shaping of regional culture and social identity.

 

Classes:

    Multiculturalism and globalization as a challenge for contemporary societies.
    Revitalization - anthropological perspective.
    Ethnography as a guide for maintaining traditional skills and knowledge - a museum lesson.
    Folklore-folkloric-folk and not only: analysis of contemporary culture in terms of conscious referral to traditional culture.
    On the trail of the invented tradition - a task to perform in the field and analysis during the exercises.
    Meetings with the Other - personal experience.

Metody kształcenia

Conventional lecture, work with a book, source material, discussion, field activities.

Compliance with the topic, correct work structure, language, reliability, independence of the work, appropriate selection of the literature of the subject.

Presentation of student work results carried out independently in the field.

Criteria for grade assessment

The class grade will be a weighted average of the written paper (50%), and activity in class, quizzes results (50%).

 

FINAL GRADE*

Grades taken into account in the case of the final assessment.

Remarks:

Lecture + class graded.

Positive grading of classes and lectures (3.0-5.0) is a condition for a final credit.
