Cel przedmiotu

To familiarize students with the possibilities of the use of data from the official statistics resources. To equipment him/her in the ability to select the right data to research problems  and the nature of the research.

Public statistics as existing data source in social studies

Methods of data collection in official statistics - current records, censuses, representative surveys

Information resources of public statistics - subject of available data and studies

Ability to use the available data

Databases - defining own variables and units of analysis

Preparing own analysis project based on public statistics data

Study visit in the Statistical Office in Zielona Góra

Presentation of own analyzes of public statistics data

Program of the statistical surveys of official statistics

Statistical information in the institutions beside the public statistics

Use of modern instruments for the analysis with the use of official statistics resources

Metody kształcenia

working with source texts, participation in discussion (speaking), workshops (preparation of quantitative analysis), group work, reports, presentations.

Preparing the project in writing and presentation during classes.	research project for a selected topic   Compliance with the topic, correct work structure, language, reliability, independence of the work, appropriate selection of the literature of the subject.   The correct presentation method, the ability to answer questions about the presented material.
Activity in the classroom.	Content-related preparation, the ability to provide examples, the ability to use the discussed texts.
Criteria for grade assessment  for classes.	The grade from the exercises is the weighted average of the project grade (60%), presentation (20%) and class activity (20%).

 

The final grade is the grade of the classes
